Growing up as a teenager you long to be respected by peers, admired and most of all to be popular – the same can also apply to an adult.  However, an adult should possess the wisdom and life experiences making it easier to befriend or meet people socially.  For a teen this can prove to be daunting, forcing them to hold up barriers when meeting people for the first time as they don’t have the experience of socialising and it may also seem to look as if they have an ‘attitude problem’ when in fact they might be shy and don’t know how to react to the situation.

Learning to ‘be yourself’ is a start so that you don’t have to pretend to be someone you are not. You will soon get bored of the pretence anyway.

Getting involved in activities that interest you is a good way to meet new people and at first it may be overwhelming, but once you start engaging about your passion for this particular activity there will be no stopping you. The more you socialise and talk to others, including the ones you are already friends with, the more social skills you will develop. You will feel happier as a person and you will grow and develop into a adult brimming with confidence and ready for the adventure that life will bring you.

How does that sound to you so far?
