A scheme to re-introduce ballroom and Latin dancing into school PE lesions will hopefully be the beginning of a trend that will become a huge success.
Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova, the professional dancers of Strictly Come Dancing are promoting the scheme with funding from The Aldridge Foundation (www.aldridgefoundation.com).
Previous sport celebrities from the show include Darren Gough, Mark Ramprakash and Matt Dawson and hopefully these figures will inspire teens to learn to waltz, dance and cha cha cha.
The aim is to improve children’s fitness, self esteem and social skills for children aged between 15-16 in primary and secondary schools.
Ed Balls, the Children’s Schools and Family’s Secretary says,
“From ballroom to ballet, dancing is a fantastic way for children to keep fit and have fun.”
As glitzy and glamorous as it sounds, will teens go for it?
