How are you ensuring a healthy and safe sexual lifestyle? With STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections) still on the increase we all need to be protecting ourselves with the necessary preventions. Condoms have been proven to be very efficient when used correctly. Consistent and correct use of condoms should entail the following:
Use from start to finish
A new condom for every sexual encounter
As soon as erection takes place a condom should be administered
Hold the tip of the condom and unroll it onto the erect penis, leaving space at the tip of the condom, making sure that no air is trapped in the condom's tip
Oil based lubricants (baby oil, petroleum jelly, Vaseline, cream, etc) can only be used with condoms that are made of polyurethane. Use only water-based lubricants on latex condoms
Pull out from partner straight after ejaculation, holding condom firmly to avoid it slipping off
Do not be embarrassed or afraid to discuss the use of condoms with your sexual partner, especially if it is a new sexual partner. Frequent visits to the clinic by both you and your partner is highly recommended as it will determine your health status, and in some cases a cure is given for the STI. HIV/AIDS remains as a deadly incurable disease.
