Depression with Teenage Boys

Depression affects both men and women but it is easier to be diagnosed in women because men find it difficult to open up and express their feelings. They are less likely to admit that they are unhappy and therefore cause themselves more depression and anxiety as they have no one to turn to; this is also due to feeling that by sharing their emotions they will appear weak.

Symptoms that you need to be aware of are:

  • feeling unhappy all of the time
  • Lack of concentration
  • Feeling that you can’t go on with your life
  • Lying in bed all day
  • Trying to sleep all day to stop these feelings
  • Problems getting to sleep
  • You can’t eat
  • Loss of weight
  • Loss of interest in anything social

If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, please go to your GP, or alternatively, talk to us at URS. We have professionals who are trained in this area who can help and talk to you in confidence - don’t suffer in silence, talking can help and depression is treatable. Call 0700 2222 700 now.
