Domestic violence is when someone uses anger to control people. Abusers are bullies; they will hit, kick, punch, shout, scream and use many different ways to make you do something. But there are other ways these bullies can hurt you and force you to feel uncomfortable. If you or someone you know is being hurt in anyway, please go and tell someone you trust.

Domestic violence is a crime and very frightening. It is important that people living in an abusive situation know that this is not their fault. You may feel that you are alone and there is nobody you can tell, but there is. You may be protecting your brother or sister or someone else and you may have got hurt whilst doing so. You may find it easier to concentrate at school so that you can forget what is going on at home or maybe you don’t find it easy to concentrate anymore and it’s having a huge impact on your school work.

Either way, it is important to know that there is professional help available. Talk to a friend or an adult that you trust, tell them what is worrying you. Try and talk with your parent(s) that is also being hurt, tell them how you feel.

It is important to get help as soon as possible... remember stay safe!  Call our URS Advisors now. 0700 2222 700.
