My opinion of Volunteering

Want to know how you can learn new skills, make friends, obtain references and be a part of a rewarding experience? College and University! Well yes, there is that, but another and very free option would be volunteering.

Work? For free? It sounds daunting and not a particularly attractive prospect, but volunteering can reap dividends and be highly rewarding. The volunteer sector is a vast and rich resource of different organisations, all eager to utilise and add to your skills.

Volunteering is also an excellent CV booster with many potential employers looking favorably upon those with a history of volunteering under their belt. It can show character, a sense of responsibility and an eagerness to learn. Volunteering in your chosen field of work can also give you the edge over the competition.
