Going to university can be daunting as well as an exhilarating prospect. It gives you the opportunity to study a subject you feel passionate about and in depth with people who feel the same. Unlike school, university gives you the independents to study how and when you want, and if you choose to leave home you have the added experience of learning to live independently.

You’ll develop both personally and academically; socially it can be one of the most active times in your life with so many parties and free time to hang out with friends.  If you live on campus you have the added excitement of living with other students.

It can be both an exciting but also a lonely and sometimes an isolating time where you can feel homesick or may find it hard to fit in. There can also be the added difficulty of peer pressure especially when it comes to drugs which are readily available around the campus.

However, if students try to maintain a healthy balance between social events and their academic studies, they will find that University can be a time of extreme fun and experience and where you can also develop lifelong skills.
